Plan an adult birthday party with the right tableware. Learn how to mix x-rated paper cups and penis party paper plates, and use our checklist to buy only what you need.
Quick answer
Choose x-rated paper cups for drinks and penis party paper plates for food, then add only the coordinating extras you actually need. For most adult birthday parties, one pack of each per 8 guests keeps the table funny without overbuying.
Why cup size and plate size change your plan
Cup capacity affects how often you refill and how many cups you need. A 7 oz cup is best for short drinks or single servings, so guests may take more than one. If you serve large cocktails or keep drinks going all evening, plan for two cups per guest or add a second style.
Plate size affects how much food fits and how sturdy the plate feels. A 7-inch plate works for cake, snacks, or small plates, but not for a full meal. If you serve a buffet, choose larger plates or stack two for support.
The trade-off between novelty and practicality
Novelty tableware sets a playful tone, but it can limit portion size and may not suit every guest. X-rated messages and phallic designs are fun for close friends but may be too much for family or coworkers. Decide who is coming before you commit to a theme.
Paper plates and cups are convenient, but they are not designed for heavy or hot foods unless stated. Use them for cake and snacks, and keep hot dishes in regular serving dishes.
Decision rules for buying adult birthday party tableware
- Match cup size to drink type: If you serve wine, shots, or small cocktails, a 7 oz cup is enough. For beer, soda, or large mixed drinks, choose a larger cup or plan for two per guest. Check the ounce size on the pack before you buy.
- Match plate size to food: Use 7-inch plates for cake, snacks, and appetizers. For a full meal or buffet, choose plates at least 9 inches or use two plates stacked. A 7-inch plate holds about one slice of cake and a few snacks.
- Buy one pack per 8 guests: Each pack of cups or plates serves 8 people for one serving. For a two-hour party with drinks and cake, one pack of each per 8 guests is usually enough. Add one extra pack if you expect guests to take second helpings.
- Check the guest list before you commit to a theme: X-rated and phallic designs suit close friends and adult-only parties. If family, children, or coworkers will attend, choose a tamer design or save the novelty tableware for a separate gathering. Keep a plain backup set for mixed guest lists.
- Coordinate, don't duplicate: The plates are designed to coordinate with matching napkins, balloons, and candles. Buy only the extras you will actually use, such as napkins, and skip items that duplicate what you already have. Make a list of what you already own before adding coordinating items.
